Sick As A Dog

Oh last night there was a party

We were all invited out

And I could see that they had something up their sleeve

A couple of drinks for me that was enough I couldn’t drive

So I decided there and then I shouldn’t leave

There was bread upon the table there was salt beef in the pot

There was fish and brewis made up of salty cod

There was so much going on I stayed all night till early dawn

Now it’s Monday and I’m sick

Sick as a dog

Oh the telephone was ringing and the lights they all went out

So we were drinking up and sitting in the dark

Than they lit up all the candles there was only three or four

When the cat meowed the dog began to bark

There was someone at the table smoking up and drinking beer

With his own guitar and croaking like a frog

But so drunk I couldn’t see who was the worst one him or me

And now it’s Monday and I’m sick

Sick as a dog

Now the party is all over so I thought I’d write this song

And maybe something that I said will make you think

If in my house or in my car or if I walk into a bar

Then I’ll think twice before I take another drink

There’s a moral to this story let me here you sing it out

I will never drink again I swear to God

I’ve heard it many times before oh how I will never drink no more

Do you remember when you woke up with an achin’ in your head

The night before you acted like a hog

Do you remember when you said oh Lord I wish that I were dead

Now it is Monday and I’m sick

Sick as a dog

Oh there’s a moral to this story let me hear you sing it out

I will never drink again I swear to God

I’ve heard it many times before oh how I will never drink no more

Do you remember when you woke up with an achin’ in your head

The night before you acted like a hog

Do you remember when you said oh Lord I wish that I were dead

Cause it’s Monday and I’m sick

Sick as a dog

Oh yes it’s Monday and I’m sick

Sick as a dog
