Going out to the codtrap, used to be out lifestyle.
Hauling on jigger lines, made a days pay.
Till the fisheries minister allowed foreign trawellers,
To forsake out waters, and drag jobs away.

So we left for the Mainland, missing the Island
Living on odd jobs, that we choose to toil
But the rock's in our souls, when we die just one favour.

We left our homeland way back in the 80's
Leaving the Island was so hard to do.
In search of an income, we came to the mainland.
Sacraficed friendships and families to.

<chours>
So we're out on the Mainland, missing the Island
Living on odd jobs, that we choose to toil
But the rock's in our souls, when we die just one favour.

Offered a fortune, but gave to so few.
Still we flocked to out homeland, only to find out.
Prayers don't get answered, and dreams don't come true.

<chours>
So we're back on the Mainland, still missing the Island
Living on odd jobs, that we choose to toil
But the rock's in our souls, when we die just one favour.
