Knit Me A Sweater Mom

Knit me a real warm sweater mom
Like you did when I was young
Cold winter weather is a commin' on
And I know where I'm goin'

Well I don't want the kind you find in a fancy store mom
And I don't want the kind you find in a magazine
I just want the kind you made with your own two hands mom
With a pledge of love and a prayer in every seam

I thought I'd stay up here in this far north country
Where the air is pure and there's gold in every stream
But I hear them hound dogs commin' through the mountains
And I sure am scared for I know they're after me

Knit me a real warm sweater mom
Like you did when I was young
Cold winter weather is a commin' on
And I know where I'm goin'

I tell you mom there's a girl they call Keyota
Such a lovely girl she thought the world of me
But somebody shot and they killed her Sunday morning
And I know for sure they'll blame it on me

I can hear the north wind blowin' through the mountains
And I see the sun go down among the trees
I sure am cold and mom I sure am hungry
And them old hound dogs are still chasing me

Knit me a real warm sweater mom
Like you did when I was young
Cold winter weather is a commin' on
And I know where I'm goin'

Knit me a real warm sweater mom
Like you did when I was young
Cold winter weather is a commin' on
And I know where I'm goin'

Knit me a real warm sweater mom
Like you did when I was young
Cold winter weather is a commin' on
And I know where I'm goin'
